Homeguard truncheon, we found a batch of these many years (decades) at a military surplus warehouse and have no other explanation for them. It is possible they were also issued to the ATS as they were not allowed to stand as armed sentries at unit entrances, there are accounts of all female searchlight batteries replacing male soldiers, the men had rifles but the women were only allowed pick-axe handles!
