14/15 medals Trio to Pte James C Poplett KIA Somme 12/8/16 £250

3 WW1 Medals to Pte James C Poplett. 1st Battalion Queens (Royal West Surrey Regt), 1914-15 Star, War Medal and Victory Medal. Pte Poplett was killed in a position to the rear of High Wood, probably during an artillery barrage. He has no known grave and is recorded on the Thiepval memorial. He would have been about 24 when he died. An interesting exercise for the buyer would be to confirm date of birth and age and prove this to the CWGC.

Comes with research I have already done: copies of 1891 and 1911 Census, Trench map, excerpts from relevant books, Soldiers Died entry, medal card, facsimile certificate, ORBAT record and other documents.
