1940 dated Camp bed (OFF-CB1)

1940 dated Officers camp bed. Frame dated 1940, one hessian bag also dated 1940. Canvas seems to be in good strong condition. Little bit of decorative trim loose to sides but this does not affect the bed. Overall condition VGC

These beds were in theory for officers but seem to have been used by many others, the bed design has been around for over a century and featured in the camping section of various large department stores which equipped expeditions, safaris and soldiers on active service. interestingly an 'improved' design' is advertised in the Gamages catalogue of about 1920-30 which joined the poles with a kind of hook rather than a socket this was also the type offered by Army & Navy Stores in their 139/40 catalogue, however the British Army went for the  earliersocket type as these were presumably cheaper, See photos.
